Purchasing a Ledge product is a commitment. A commitment to our vision. Our pursuit of quality. Our baseball cap. The baseball cap.
In turn, we offer a commitment to you. A commitment to building something you’re proud to wear. Something that lasts. Something that puts fabric, fit and form over margin, money and maximization. This page is part of that commitment. Your cap will last, but like any product, it needs care. Bookmark it.

WHAT NEVER TO
DO WITH YOUR
LEDGE
CAP .
PLEASE READ THESE FIRST
Before learning how to clean your cap, some rules to be mindful of. Unfortunately, many resources are designed for cleaning unstructured and/or poor-quality caps where shape is less critical.
NEVER SOAK OR SUBMERGE THE CAP
Our crown and brim each contain different structural elements designed to help maintain the shape of the cap over time. Water, especially on our flagship cotton caps, can shrink the fabric and alter the shape of our caps. Do not fully rinse, soak or submerge the cap. Instead, spot clean with a damp cloth in line with the guidelines below.
NEVER USE BLEACH
Bleach will discolour most of fabrics, and for our cotton caps, weaken the fibres. Our caps are known for the hand-feel, and even so-called “colour-safe” bleach will impact its integrity.
NEVER DRY CLEAN
It may seem counter-intuitive, but dry cleaning is anything but. Solvents can strip the natural oils from our fabrics, alter our fit and stiffness, and leave chemical residues on the crown, brim and sweatband.
NEVER MACHINE WASH OR TUMBLE DRY
Social media is awash with ways to do this safely; we strongly recommend avoiding them. Agitation from a washer can destroy the shape, stitching and structure. Dryer heat can shrink and warm the cap, and lock in stains and odors permanently.

HOW TO PRESERVE
YOUR CAP WITH
PREVENTATIVE
CARE .
IT STARTS WITH AFTERWEAR
Our caps are intended for year-round use, which means they can be susceptible over time to the elements, particularly warmer seasons for our flagship 100% cotton and 100% baby alpaca caps. You know yourself the best; if you excessively sweat, store your Ledge cap in a cool, ventilated location after wear. Over time, excessive sweat may cause discolouration or sweat marks on certain caps.
LET IT DRY AWAY FROM HEAT SOURCES
Post-rain, our caps need to dry. Resist the urgent to expedite the proces through a radiator, outdoor space, or especially a dryer. Instead, be patient. Keep them at room temperature and, if possible, use a prop to keep their shape, such as the craft paper our caps come with.

HOW TO CLEAN
YOUR CAP FOR
SWEAT
STAINS.
STEP 1: GATHER THE SUPPLIES
For our suggested process, you will need the following:
- Small spray bottle (approximately 8oz/250ml)
- Mild dish soap
- White vinegar (distilled, 5% acidity preferable)
- Soft-bristled toothbrush (dry)
- Two clean microfiber cloths or hand towels
- A cap form, bowl or rolled towel to hold shape while drying
- (Optional) A larger brush for dry dusting
- (Optional) A second spray bottle (approximately 8oz/250ml)
STEP 2: DRY BRUSH THE CAP
Before adding any moisture, brush the entire cap, including the sweatband, with your dry brush (large brush preferred, toothbrush if necessary) for about 10-15 seconds. This helps remove dust that may have accumulated over time.
STEP 3: MIX YOUR SOAP SOLUTION
Take your spray bottle, and fill it with 1 cup (240 ml) of lukewarm water. Add 3-4 drops/squirts of mild dish soap. Shake gently.
STEP 4: SPRAY THE STAINED AREA
Apply 2-3 light mists of the soap solution directly onto the stained area. This is important: the fabric should be damp, not wet (and certainly not dripping).
STEP 5: GENTLY SCRUB THE STAINED AREA
Using the toothbrush, work the stain(s) in small circles for about 20-30 seconds per spot. It’s critical that you not press too hard with the brush; keep it simple.
STEP 6: DAMPEN TWO CLOTHS AND WIPE AWAY ANY SOAP RESIDUE
Wipe the area(s) with the first clean, barely damp cloth. Again, it shouldn’t be soaking or dripping, and wiping should be gentle, not firm. Wipe for as long as necessary until no soap remains.
STEP 7: FILL BOTTLE WITH WHITE VINEGAR
While a second, dry spray bottle is preferable, you can reuse the exsiting spray bottle by rising it thoroughly and drying it. Fill with undiluted white vinegar.
STEP 8: SPOT TEST WHITE VINEGAR
Apply a light mist onto a hidden area (underside of the brim or inside the back panel preferred). Wait 5-10 minutes to check for any colour change.
STEP 9: APPLY WHITE VINEGAR
Apply 1-2 light mists directly onto each stained area. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes to break down sweat salts and oils.
STEP 10: GENTLY MASSAGE THE VINEGAR
In a gentle, circular fashion, brush in the vinegar with the second toothbrush for 15-20 seconds per area.
STEP 11: WIPE WITH THE SECOND CLOTH
Take the second cloth and wipe each area 2-3 times until any residue is gone.
STEP 12: DRY THE CAP WITH A FRESH TOWEL
Press a dry towel firmly against any treated area for 10-15 seconds to absorb excess moisture.
STEP 13: PROP THE CAP
Stuff the cap to maintain its shape during the air-drying process. You have a few options:
- Use the paper insert that came with your Ledge cap if you still have it.
- Use a dry handtowel.
- Use a bowl that fits the shape.
STEP 14: AIR DRY THE CAP
Let your cap air dry for 12 hours in a dark place and away from any heat sources (such as a radiator).

HOW TO CLEAN
YOUR CAP FOR
COLOUR
STAINS.
DISCLAIMER
Colour stains include grass stains dye transfers, food or drink spills and ink stains. Unfortunately, some of these stains can be nearly impossible to remove, especially from a delicate cap. The steps below are guidelines, but not guarantees.
STEP 1: GATHER THE SUPPLIES
For our suggested process, you will need the following:
- Small spray bottle (approximately 8oz/250ml)
- Mild dish soap
- Rubbing (isopropyl) alcohol, 70%
- Soft-bristled toothbrush (dry)
- Two clean microfiber cloths or hand towels
- A cap form, bowl pr rolled towel to hold shape while drying
- (Optional) A larger brush for dry dusting
- (Optional) A second spray bottle (approximately 8oz/250ml)
STEP 2: DRY BRUSH THE CAP
Before adding any moisture, brush the entire cap, including the sweatband, with your dry brush (large brush preferred, toothbrush if necessary) for about 10-15 seconds. This helps remove dust that may have accumulated over time.
STEP 3: MIX YOUR SOAP SOLUTION
Take your spray bottle, and fill it with 1 cup (240 ml) of cold water. Add 3-4 drops/squirts of mild dish soap. Shake gently. Note the cold water; warm water can embed colour stains deeper.
STEP 7: FILL BOTTLE WITH RUBBING ALCOHOL
While a second, dry spray bottle is preferable, you can reuse the exsiting spray bottle by rising it thoroughly and drying it. Fill with 70% isopropyl rubbing alcohol, undiluted.
STEP 8: SPOT TEST RUBBING ALCOHOL
Apply a light mist onto a hidden area (underside of the brim or inside the back panel preferred). Wait 5-10 minutes to check for any colour change or fading before proceeding.
STEP 9: APPLY RUBBING ALCOHOL
Apply 1-2 light mists directly onto each stained area. Let it sit for 3-5 minutes, no longer as the fabric can dry out.
STEP 10: GENTLY MASSAGE THE RUBBING ALCOHOL
In a gentle, circular fashion, brush in the alcohol with the second toothbrush for 15-20 seconds per area.
STEP 11: WIPE WITH THE SECOND CLOTH
Take the second cloth, dampened with cold water, and wipe each area 2-3 times until any residue (and ideally, the remaining stain, is gone). For stubborn stains, repeat steps 9 to 11. Avoid more than twice in a single session as excess alcohol can dry out or dull the fabric.
